Dr. Jan Patterson, Infectious Diseases, discusses a new strain of the flu carried by pigs that has the potential to become a pandemic.
She says this new flu virus is a mutated version of the swine flu that emerged in 2009.
“This strain has been increasing since 2016 so it’s been a very gradual thing,” said Patterson.
Patterson says a timetable for when this virus could spread is hard to predict.
