Dr. Steven Venticinque, clinical professor of anesthesiology and surgery in the Long School of Medicine, created a foldable, disposable barrier to be used during high-risk procedures such as tracheal intubation.
The device blocks droplets and aerosols from getting on doctors, nurses and paramedics performing the life-saving procedure.
“When you have the right tools and you can do your job with confidence, both the patients and providers benefit,” Venticinque said.
