A message from HR: Leadership development opportunities

Dear Faculty and Staff,

At UT Health San Antonio, we remain firmly committed to core values that include professionalism, excellence, teamwork and collaboration. One way we encourage and cultivate these values is by providing faculty and staff opportunities to hone their leadership skills for today’s rapidly changing environments in higher education, research and health care. In response to your recommendations received through the most recent faculty and staff engagement survey, we are adapting our professional educational opportunities. The Office of Human Resources offers two highly engaging programs to learn more about organizational processes of strategic planning, management and building a more engaged culture.

Newly executed is the Leadership Excellence for Academic Professionals program. The LEAP program presents an exciting opportunity through which mid- to senior-level managers can enhance their skills in building effective project teams and bolster innovation and continuous improvement efforts.

Along the Leader’s Path is another training program designed to help supervisors – as well as those who aspire to supervisory roles – learn the foundational leadership and management skills critical to success. As we continually strive to build a culture of excellence, this series will help impart the building blocks of effective leadership and management. Course work ranges from topics of basic management theory to practical tools utilized by leaders who inspire us all to give of our minds, hearts and talents to make lives better.

In alignment with the Culture of Excellence work plan, other communications will be forthcoming over the next several of weeks from the Office of Human Resources about performance management, employee recognition, benefits enrollment and other offerings.

Each of us contributes daily, without reservation, to this communal calling. Please take a moment to review these and other leadership development opportunities available for you. Ours is an institution that is fueled by possibilities. Rewards for investment in the personal growth and leadership spirit of any of our 6,600 UT Health community members will be realized throughout our institution for decades to come.
