I’m part-way through Week Three of “Take Your Medicine — The Impact of Drug Development,” a free MOOC (massive open online course) offered by the University of Texas. Bottom line seems to be this: It costs a ton of money and requires a lot of work in the lab and the clinic before a drug can get approved for wider use.
