Electrical engineer Jessica Gutierrez-Rodriguez, MS, is the new executive director of Facilities Operations. She joined UT Health San Antonio on June 21 after assisting with the design and construction of the U.S.’s only specialty tuberculosis hospital — the Texas Center for Infectious Disease (TCID) — and serving as its hospital administrator.

UT Health San Antonio continues to improve in the annual Academic Ranking of World Universities, also known as the ShanghaiRanking. In the category of Dentistry & Oral Sciences, based at UT Health San Antonio in the School of Dentistry, the university is ranked 34th worldwide. The university’s ranking is also 16th among U.S. universities and No. 1 among the three Texas schools included in the ranking.

As UT Health San Antonio expands its overall enterprise throughout the community, including the new UT Health San Antonio Multispecialty and Research Hospital, Eduardo Gomez, MBA, MSc, is expected to play a key role in its success. Gomez joined the institution in May as the inaugural director of strategic intelligence.
