New resources developed at UT Health Science Center prompt dentists, physicians to work together to fight pediatric tooth decay epidemic

Children’s teeth are in more danger of tooth decay today than they were just 20 years ago, according to a report released this year by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Local experts say children in San Antonio are among the most vulnerable.

Advancements in genetics research in San Antonio — with global impact on HIV/AIDS, schizophrenia and aging —will be the focus Wednesday, Nov. 14, as National Public Radio’s Ira Flatow, award-winning host of “Talk of the Nation: Science Friday,” hosts a special “Science Wednesday” from the Alamo City.


Health Science Center, partners promote awareness of World Diabetes Day (Nov. 14)

The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, in a joint effort with the American Diabetes Association, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the University Health System, will participate in a ceremony recognizing Wednesday, Nov. 14, as World Diabetes Day.


UT Health Science Center nurses to staff new Avance pediatric clinic

Young children enrolled in programs of Avance-San Antonio will have the opportunity for free medical care through a new Community Outreach Clinic staffed by nurses and nursing students from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.


Economic Development Administration grants $1 million for ambulatory surgery center

The Economic Development Administration (EDA) of the U.S. Department of Commerce is awarding $1 million to support construction of a state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery center at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
