Hispanic Center of Excellence-Dentistry gets $592,000 boost

The Hispanic Center of Excellence-Dentistry at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio will be able to offer more programs to attract and retain Hispanic dental students and faculty members, thanks to a $592,000 grant from the Division of Health Professions Diversity, Bureau of Health Professions, of the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).



New professorship honors longtime gastroenterologist Schenker

Steven Schenker, M.D., professor of medicine and pharmacology at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and former chief of the divisions of gastroenterology at both the Health Science Center and the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, is being honored with a new academic endowed professorship established in his name.


American Board of Internal Medicine invites Verghese to serve on board

Abraham Verghese, M.D., D.Sc. (Hon), the Marvin Forland Distinguished Professor of Medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and director of the university’s Center for Medical Humanities and Ethics, recently was appointed to the board of directors of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
