The annual Brain Bowl at UT Health San Antonio will rock craniums on Tuesday, April 17, at UT Health San Antonio.
The event begins with a reception at 6 p.m. Brain-teaser questions will ensue at 7 p.m. in room 209L of the School of Medicine building.
Outstanding biology, chemistry and psychology students from three schools will compete. The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and UT Dallas will face off with the defending champions from UT Arlington.
The Brain Bowl is the “Jeopardy!” of the neurosciences, and it’s held once a year at UT Health San Antonio. The Center for Biological Neuroscience (CBN) (http://www.uthscsa.edu/cbn/ ) is the event sponsor.
The CBN’s primary mission is to enhance neuroscience at the Health Science Center by bringing together research and teaching activities related to the discipline.
Neuroscience is the science of the nervous system. It includes diverse areas such as neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, neurochemistry, neuropharmacology and neuropsychology. Brain Bowl questions address each of these areas. Neuroscientists work to understand the structure and function of the brain in health and disease.
