FDA, CDC consider authorizing COVID vaccine for kids age 5-11

UT Health San Antonio medical and scientific experts are preparing a public education campaign about the importance of getting COVID-19 vaccinations now to prevent the possibility of a winter surge. The organization also is preparing to provide COVID-19 vaccinations for children ages 5-11 when the vaccine receives emergency use authorization, which is expected in early November.






‘Dementia Friendly City’ proclamation urges inclusion, support

San Antonio was the third Texas city to earn the designation “Dementia Friendly City” by having a community grassroots effort working to welcome and support those with the condition, and provide helpful resources to caregivers. The designation is from the national nonprofit support organization Dementia Friendly America.

Brianna Garcia wondered why her heart raced when she exercised and why she was tired all the time. Her doctor in Laredo referred her to a team of specialists at UT Health San Antonio. Six weeks of care followed and experts unraveled the teen’s medical mystery.
