Students to explore physician assistant profession during UT Health Science Center camp

The Regional Campus of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio is holding a Summer Physician Assistant Camp. During the camp, Laredo-area high school students will role-play as physician assistants and patients as they learn how to conduct a medical interview, perform a cardiovascular exam and interpret rate and rhythm from an EKG report.

Volunteers from UT Health Science Center San Antonio Allograft Resources; the University Transplant Center (a collaboration of the Health Science Center School of Medicine and University Health System); and Vital Alliance, a volunteer group made up of transplant recipients, will help to educate fans on the importance of registering to be an organ, eye and tissue donor.


Jaén elected as a director of American Board of Family Medicine

Carlos Roberto Jaén, M.D., Ph.D., chairman of family and community medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the American Board of Family Medicine, the second-largest medical specialty board in the United States.
