Community and health care professionals invited to presentation about the H1N1 and seasonal flu

What: The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio is holding a special community health presentation in Laredo on the H1N1 (Swine) flu and seasonal flu.

Who: The event will feature a presentation by Carlos Roberto Jaén, M.D., Ph.D., The Dr. John M. Smith, Jr., Professor and chairman of the Department of Family & Community Medicine at the UT Health Science Center. A question-and-answer session will follow with longtime Laredo physician Joaquin G. Cigarroa Jr., M.D., and Hector Gonzalez, M.D., M.P.H., director of the Laredo Health Department.

When: Wednesday, Sept. 2. A light buffet will be served at 5:30 p.m. followed by the lecture at 7 p.m.
Dr. Jaén will be available for media interviews in English and Spanish from 5 to 5:30 p.m.

Where: The auditorium in the D.D. Hachar Building at the UT Health Science Center’s Laredo Campus Extension, 1937 Bustamante Street, Laredo

Details: Dr. Jaén will discuss the two most prevalent types of flu and will discuss preventive measures that can help prevent its spread.
