Dear faculty and staff,
As we are just a few days from the conclusion of this year’s State Employee Charitable Campaign, we write to encourage you to participate in this worthy campaign that helps so many in our community. We are very proud of how UT Health San Antonio has supported our community in the past, and it is our sincerest hope that you, our generous and caring employees, will once again contribute.
Although San Antonio and the surrounding areas are rich in culture and vibrancy, there are still many in our community that suffer due to food insecurity, neglect or abuse, and lack of basic, safe housing. And, consider these sobering facts: one in five individuals in our community are living in poverty; 77,452 CPS Energy customers are at risk of having their electricity shut off due to inability to pay; and, at last count, 5,499 children in our region are confirmed victims of abuse or neglect. These are just a few reasons why our contributions to SECC, whether large or small, are so important.
