Dr. Diogenes honored for dental research in pulp biology

Anibal Diogenes, D.D.S., M.S., Ph.D.

Anibal Diogenes, D.D.S., M.S., Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Endodontics, is the 2019 recipient of the International Association for Dental Research Distinguished Scientist Award in Pulp Biology and Regeneration.

Dr. Diogenes was recognized at the opening ceremonies of the IADR’s 97th General Session & Exhibition in Vancouver, Canada.

Dr. Diogenes has published more than 52 peer-reviewed publications and four book chapters that have generated 1,410 lifetime citations. He conducted the first clinical study in pediatric and adult patients demonstrating intracanal delivery of mesenchymal stem cells during regenerative endodontic procedures.

He has made major contributions to the understanding of pulp biology and regeneration.

Dr. Diogenes completed his D.D.S. at the Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil, and his Ph.D. at UT Health San Antonio. He then completed his specialty training in endodontics and received his board certificate.
