The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) has appointed Mark T. Nadeau, M.D., M.B.A., FAAFP, of UT Health San Antonio to the ACGME Review Committee for Family Medicine.

Dr. Nadeau is professor and residency program director in the Department of Family & Community Medicine of the Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

The ACGME accredits sponsoring institutions and residency and fellowship programs, confers recognition on additional program formats or components, and dedicates resources to initiatives addressing areas of import in graduate medical education, according to the ACGME.

ACGME Review Committees meet twice annually to conduct accreditation review and additional business.

“It is an honor for the Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine to have Dr. Nadeau appointed to this review committee,” said Carlos R. Jaén, M.D., Ph.D., professor and chairman of the Department of Family & Community Medicine. “This recognizes Dr. Nadeau’s leadership and our reputation for innovation in family medicine residency education.”

Dr. Nadeau is a winner of the 2017 Presidential Teaching Excellence Award at UT Health San Antonio. He spent 27 years in the United States Air Force before joining the School of Medicine in 2005.
