UT Health San Antonio President William L. Henrich, M.D., MACP, has appointed Adriana Segura, D.D.S., as interim dean of the School of Dentistry, effective June 1.

Dr. Segura, professor of comprehensive dentistry, is currently the associate dean for academic, faculty and student affairs in the School of Dentistry.

She began her career at UT Health San Antonio in 1999 as associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics in the School of Medicine and the Department of Pediatric Dentistry in the School of Dentistry. She was promoted to professor with tenure in 2004. In 2006, she was named interim chair of the Department of Community Dentistry and director of the Ricardo Salinas Clinic. From 2009 through 2017, she served as associate dean for student affairs.

Dr. Segura earned her Bachelor of Science degree at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, and her Doctor of Dental Surgery at UTHealth Houston.

Dr. Henrich said a search committee is actively identifying candidates for dean and that Dr. Segura will serve on an interim basis until a permanent successor to Dr. William Dodge is named.

“I have full confidence that she will help successfully navigate a continuing path of growth for the school in all of its mission areas,” he added.
