When people ask Travis Block what he does for a living, the conversation usually screeches to a halt when they learn he’s a scientist. “It’s gotten to where you tell somebody you’re a scientist, they put their hands up and say, “Don’t even try, I’m not going to understand,’” said Block, a graduate student at the University of Texas Health Science Center.
