Faculty member elected to PT educators board

Michael A. Geelhoed, PT, DPT, OCS, MTC, associate professor and director of clinical education for the Department of Physical Therapy, was elected to the National Consortium of Clinical Educators Board of Directors as Academic Director-at-Large. The position will take effect at the Education Leadership Conference in Phoenix, Arizona, on Oct. 7.

Dr. Geelhoed has presented on PT clinical education to national and regional audiences, and is an author of the Texas Consortium’s CI Certification course.

“Physical therapy clinical education is at a critical juncture for our profession,” said Dr. Geelhoed in his candidate statement. “We need to search for win-win scenarios in clinical education which benefit our clinical partners while providing optimal experiences for PT students.”

The National Consortium of Clinical Educators serves as a resource for academic and clinical educators in the application and evaluation of physical therapy clinical education in conjunction with the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy.
