Faculty member to lead orthopaedic surgeons council

Robert H. Quinn, M.D.

Robert H. Quinn, M.D., professor and chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at UT Health, is the new chairman of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Council on Research and Quality (CORQ).

Dr. Quinn, a specialist in musculoskeletal oncology, also serves as the director of the orthopaedic residency program.

The CORQ serves to advance the application of scientific knowledge to improve the safety and effectiveness of musculoskeletal care. The council develops and disseminates evidence-based tools that facilitate physicians use of clinical practice guidelines and appropriate use criteria.

Dr. Quinn attended Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia. He completed his orthopaedic residency at University of Connecticut School of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in orthopaedic oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston.

He is the past president of the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society and is a member of several multidisciplinary research groups, including Children’s Oncology Group, Southwestern Oncology Group, Radiation Oncology Group, American College of Surgeon’s Oncology Group, and International Ewing’s Sarcoma Research Forum. He is a consultant reviewer for the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research.

Dr. Quinn is also actively involved in the specialty of wilderness medicine.
