Faculty member receives Tow humanism award

Greg D. Bowling, M.D., assistant professor, hospitalist, section chief, Division of General and Hospital Medicine, has been awarded the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation.

Each year, the foundation gives the award to a faculty member at each of the more than 100 participating medical schools who best demonstrates the foundation’s ideals of outstanding compassion in the delivery of care, respect for patients, their families and health care colleagues, as well as demonstrated clinical excellence.

Dr. Bowling received a bachelor’s degree from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, in 1998, and his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston in 2002. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the UT Health Science Center San Antonio.

The Gold Foundation also supports the annual White Coat Ceremony which began at the Health Science Center’s School of Medicine with the 2001 class. Dr. Bowling will be the keynote speaker at the 2016 White Coat Ceremony on July 23.
