Faculty member wins prosthodontics research award

Petrina Gerogianni, D.D.S., assistant professor/clinical in the Department of Comprehensive Dentistry, earned first place in the John J. Sharry Research Competition sponsored annually by the American College of Prosthodontist.

Dr. Gerogiani’s presentation was titled “Fracture Resistance of Pressed and Milled Lithium Disilicate Anterior Complete Coverage Restorations Following Endodontic Access Preparation.”

The Sharry competition is held annually to stimulate and acknowledge original research in prosthodontics by students. This year’s competition included six presentations from residents and recent graduates.

The award is “just another example of the stellar faculty we have at our institution,” said Robert M. Taft, D.D.S., FACP, chair of the Department of Comprehensive Dentistry.
