From the Chief Operating Officer: Non-essential travel suspended through Dec. 31

Dear UT Health San Antonio faculty, staff, students, residents and fellows:

Due to continued concerns with the highly infectious and emerging COVID-19 variants, non-essential travel that does not support vital humanitarian efforts or critical business functions should be suspended through Dec. 31, 2021. We recognize the desire to resume normal operations, yet data continues to signal the fall and winter months to be uncertain.

Deans and vice presidents at their discretion may continue to approve travel exceptions through Dec. 31, 2021. Travel exceptions approved by deans and vice presidents do not need to be routed to the Chief Operating Officer for further approval. All international travel continues to be considered high-risk by The University of Texas System and therefore must be approved by the International Oversight Committee.

The health and safety of our campus is our top priority. Your continued partnership in modeling professional standards of well-being for the community is greatly appreciated. As the threat of COVID transmission changes, we will provide timely updates.

Sincerely,

Andrea Marks
Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
