Five organizations representing health care providers and advocates for people with obesity have filed a discrimination complaint with the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), claiming states that deny coverage for bariatric surgery fail to comply with the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and discriminate on the basis of health status and sex.
