Harvard’s Pronio-Stelluto heads medical alumni association at UT Health Science Center San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO (Dec. 14, 2010) — Valerie Pronio-Stelluto, M.D., of West Roxbury, Mass., recently was installed as president of the School of Medicine Alumni Association at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She is a 1990 alumna of the School of Medicine.

Dr. Pronio-Stelluto is assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, director of medical student education at Mount Auburn Hospital and a Harvard Macy Institute Scholar. This spring, she received the Harvard Medical School AAMC (Association of American Medical Colleges) Humanism in Medicine Award. In addition, at the Harvard Medical School commencement in May, she received the 2010 Leonard Tow Gold Foundation Humanism in Medicine Award and was named best clinical instructor at Mount Auburn Hospital.

Dr. Pronio-Stelluto is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) and has won many other teaching and mentoring awards. She succeeds Larry Holly, M.D., of Beaumont, Texas, who served as president of the School of Medicine Alumni Association in San Antonio from 2006 to 2010.
