A tiny molecule that circulates in the body in minute quantities, especially in the brain, represents a novel and promising therapeutic strategy for syndromes such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases, UT Health Science Center San Antonio researchers say in a newly published paper.

If research results continue to be repeated and are turned into clinical trials, a drug already approved for some uses could be marshaled — sooner than we expect — to prevent Alzheimer’s disease in humans and improve health to the end of life.
