Jan E. Patterson, M.D., M.S., of the School of Medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, has been appointed to serve on the Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.





Patterson elected to infectious disease subspecialty board

Patterson, M.D., FACP, professor of medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and director of the San Antonio Center for Medical Mycology, has been elected to a two-year term as a member of the Subspecialty Board on Infectious Disease of the American Board of Internal Medicine.


Berggren selected to lead medical humanities-ethics center

Ruth E. Berggren, M.D., a compassionate hero who for days cared for the poor, disenfranchised and uninsured of New Orleans in extreme conditions after Hurricane Katrina, has been appointed interim director of the Center for Medical Humanities and Ethics at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio School of Medicine.
