Supporting the growth of the bioscience industry in our region, the Health Science Center in 2010 awarded a $500,000 incentive grant to bring InCube Labs to San Antonio from San Jose, California. The city of San Antonio, Bexar County, the Texas Research and Technology Foundation and UTSA also partnered in this successful effort. The work continues to pay off today.

On March 2, an InCube Labs company, Fe3 Medical, stated it has raised $11 million from investors to fund clinical trials of a transdermal patch for patients suffering from iron-deficiency anemia. According to the firm, more than 25 million people nationwide suffer from the condition because of blood loss, kidney failure, cancer, Crohn’s disease or gastrointestinal disorders.
