WHAT: The White Coat Ceremony is a rite of passage for medical students entering the Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio. During this ceremony, a white coat is placed on each student’s shoulders and the Hippocratic Oath is recited, signifying the students’ entrance into the medical profession. This year’s White Coat Ceremony of a part of the Long School of Medicine’s 50th anniversary celebration. The Long School of Medicine opened for classes in September 1968.
WHEN: 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, July 21. The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. and interviews will be available after the program concludes at approximately 11:15 a.m.
WHERE: Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, 100 Auditorium Circle, San Antonio, Texas 78205.
WHO: Attendance is expected to be approximately 500 people, including proud parents and other family members. Faculty of the Long School of Medicine, including Robert Hromas, M.D., dean, will welcome the incoming students.
