UT Health San Antonio discovered the first cases of the omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus in Bexar County. Dr. Marjorie David, director of UT Health San Antonio’s Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory, was quoted in this KENS 5 story. Her lab worked with UT Health San Antonio’s Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute Genome Sequencing Facility and the institute’s bioinformatics team to identify the cases.
