KSAT 12: Thousands of Johnson & Johnson vaccine doses on hold at local medical facilities

Dr. Ruth Berggren, Infectious Diseases, said that, in a few rare cases, where people had an allergy to mRNA vaccines, side effects of clots and bleeding are appearing indicating a possibility of an antibody being produced that’s binding to platelets and causing platelets to clump and be cleared. She recommends that those who have concerns should ask their primary care physician for a complete blood count with platelets blood test.
