KTSA: Dr. Thomas Patterson discusses clinical trial of new anti-viral drug for COVID-19 patients

Dr. Thomas Patterson, chief of the Division of Infectious Disease, was a guest on KTSA’s Jack Riccardi Show. Dr. Patterson discussed the new anti-viral drug, remdesivir, for the sickest COVID-19 patients. Dr. Patterson is leading a local study site in the clinical trial testing the drug, which just received emergency authorization from the FDA. He also discussed the inequality of antibody diagnostic tests and the importance of continuing with social distancing, washing hands and wearing masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
