Capt. Williams brings over 15 years of law enforcement experience to this role. He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Sam Houston State University and a Master of Public Administration from Tarleton State University. Capt. Williams has been an integral member of Chief Michael Parks’ team, lending his support and expertise in coordinating and managing our police force and related administrative activities. His involvement in staff development has enhanced the productivity and performance of UTPD throughout our incredible growth. In his current role, Capt. Williams currently oversees the UTPD patrol, public safety and criminal investigations divisions, and has been actively engaged in planning for the security operations and accreditation of the UT Health San Antonio Multispecialty and Research Hospital. With his expanded role as interim chief of police, Capt. Williams will also oversee all public safety activities, parking and traffic and access controls.
Capt. Williams is a trusted and dependable partner. I am confident that his expert capabilities, his demonstrated management skills and his commitment to UT Health San Antonio will serve us well through this transition.
A search will be launched in the coming months for the permanent chief of police. In the meantime, please extend your support to Interim Chief Williams as he takes on this key role for our organization.
