Effective July 28, Yeman Collier, vice president and chief information officer, will be leaving UT Health San Antonio to join the University of Chicago Medicine as their senior vice president and chief information officer. He has been with UT Health San Antonio for 12 years capably leading the information technology and management solutions teams.
During his tenure, Yeman has provided strategic direction to guide the organization’s information technology (IT) resources through a period of phenomenal growth and emergent innovation in support of our missions, rapid clinical growth, expansion of our research portfolio and a broadened academic footprint. He has been a driving force in the modernization of our technology infrastructure, successfully preparing our launch of the new UT Health San Antonio Multispecialty and Research Hospital with state-of-the-art technology our patients and families deserve.
He has been a valued partner to me and many leaders across UT Health San Antonio and will be greatly missed. We wish him the very best as he embarks on this new adventure. Please join me in congratulating Yeman on this new opportunity and wish him well.
With Yeman’s departure, Michael Schnabel, MBA, will serve as the interim vice president and chief information officer. Michael currently serves as the chief information security officer and assistant vice president of information security and operations at UT Health San Antonio. In his current role, he oversees cybersecurity, enterprise architecture and all IT infrastructure. He provides strategic leadership for information security, cyber operations and data governance across academic, research and patient care domains, routinely interacting with our executive leadership, faculty, staff and students as well as our UT System administration and System-wide colleagues. With this expanded role as interim CIO, responsibility for information security will continue to be managed by the existing information security team and will continue to maintain accountability to the President’s Office.
Michael joined UT Health San Antonio in 2013 from City of Hope National Medical Center, where he transformed cybersecurity operations and information security assurance supporting City of Hope’s medical center, Beckman Research Institute, graduate school and philanthropy entities as their information security officer. Prior to his time at City Hope National Medical Center, he worked in the financial sector, serving as senior vice president and chief information officer at Gateway Business Bank. Michael has been a trusted and reliable partner across our research, academic and health care missions for more than a decade. I’m confident that his expert capabilities, his demonstrated leadership and his commitment to UT Health San Antonio will serve us well through this transition. The information technology team assembled by Yeman is strong and capable and I know will support Michael in ensuring reliability and consistency while we advance IT initiatives across our growing enterprise.
Michael holds an MBA in Information Technology Management and a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance from Western Governors University.
A search will be launched in the near future for the permanent vice president and chief information officer. In the meantime, please extend your support to Michael as he takes on this important role for our organization.
Sincerely,
Andrea Marks
Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
