In memoriam: Charles Reasner, M.D.

Charles Reasner, M.D., founding medical director of the Texas Diabetes Institute when it opened in 1999, has died.

Dr. Reasner joined the faculty at the UT Health Science Center in 1989 after retiring from the U.S. Air Force. His first major role at was as director of medical resident education. He served as chief of the Department of Clinical Endocrinology at UT Health San Antonio until his retirement in 2010.

At TDI, he helped create a foundation of treatment, prevention and research designed to improve the lives of those with diabetes, or at high risk of developing it.

Dr. Reasner had worked in private practice for several years, but recently had rejoined UT Health San Antonio.

A memorial service for Dr. Reasner will be held at noon, Friday, June 16, in the chapel at the Texas Diabetes Institute.
