Message from the President

Dear faculty, staff and students:

I have to be away for a few months to receive medical treatment, beginning Feb. 19, 2024. The outlook for successful treatment and my return is excellent. The chancellor has appointed Dr. Rob Hromas to serve as acting president of UT Health San Antonio during my time away. Dr. Hromas will maintain his role as dean of the Long School of Medicine and vice president for medical affairs while serving the Office of the President by ensuring the execution of our ongoing operations and fulfilling all presidential public obligations. Andrea Marks, senior executive vice president and chief operating officer, will also serve the Office of the President by fulfilling administrative and operational support to ensure the smooth operation of all university affairs during my time away.

I have full confidence in Dr. Hromas, Ms. Marks and the Executive Committee’s ability to continue the university’s missions. I will continue regular meetings with Dr. Hromas, Ms. Marks and other senior leaders during this time.

I appreciate the warmth and camaraderie that defines our UT Health San Antonio community, and I look forward to returning to our vibrant environment to which you all contribute so brilliantly. In the meantime, I look forward to continuing the remarkable work and progress that defines UT Health San Antonio.

Thank you for your understanding, support and unwavering dedication to our shared mission.

With great appreciation and respect,

William L. Henrich, MD, MACP
President and Professor of Medicine
