Dear friends,
A sad fact of life in Texas and the world is the reality of human trafficking, a horrendous assault on human dignity. A recent University of Texas study estimated that there are 300,000 victims of human trafficking in Texas, including 79,000 young victims of sex trafficking.
In a letter to heads of state agencies, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott challenged all state employees to join in the fight against such despicable crimes by learning to recognize signs of trafficking and how to respond. The governor cited a video produced by the office of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton as an excellent teaching and training tool. The video, titled Be the One in the Fight Against Human Trafficking, equips viewers with the tools necessary to fight the scourge of trafficking.
I’m sharing the link to the video and the governor’s letter below. I encourage you to watch the video, learn, be aware, and become a voice for caring and decency. Together, we can make a difference.
Sincerely,
William L. Henrich, M.D., MACP
