MEDIA ADVISORY
WHAT: The University of Texas at San Antonio and UT Health San Antonio, the clinical care, clinical research and health system enterprise of UT San Antonio, will host a two-day symposium across our campuses, titled “Advances in Human Health through Spatial Omics and AI.” The event will showcase pioneering research and transformative technologies that are reshaping the future of healthcare.
A highlight of the symposium will be a keynote address by Eric Horvitz, MD, PhD, chief scientific officer at Microsoft, renowned for his contributions to AI theory and practice. He leads Microsoft’s initiatives at the intersection of science, technology and society, with a focus on AI, medicine and the biosciences. Horvitz will deliver his keynote on Tuesday, September 30, at 1 p.m. at the Weston Conference Center in San Pedro I.
This event also explores the latest innovations and application of artificial intelligence (AI) in augmenting human capabilities. It also brings together clinicians, AI scientists, biomedical engineers, high-tech industry leaders, biotech and drug discovery organizations, science foundations, and policymakers to discuss the future of scientific discovery with AI in personalized medicine, neurotech and public health.
This year’s event is a joint initiative between MATRIX: The UTSA AI Consortium for Human Well-Being and Center for Precision Medicine. Support is also provided by the Biomedical Engineering Department in UT San Antonio’s Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design, the Department of Computer Engineering in the College of AI, Cyber, and Computing, and the Department of Medicine at the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT San Antonio.
