New research websites now live

Last year, the Office of the Vice President for Research collaborated with the WebLife team to create a new online presence for the research enterprise at UT Health San Antonio.

Our design process included focus groups with university stakeholders. The consensus reached was to increase awareness and funding opportunities for strategic research areas, but also to provide online resources that facilitate and foster collaboration and efficiency in translational research.

To reach those goals, we target two very distinct audiences:

  • Citizens, funders, donors, and policymakers who need to better understand the story and the human and economic value of our research.
  • Researchers, particularly those who are new to or external to UT Health San Antonio, who want to learn about our research infrastructure and processes and connect with resources or collaborators.

We also determined that we needed to rework the content to better suit the web, by making it friendlier, more visual, and better designed for scanning and quick browsing.

Our goal for the new VPR website to offer researchers a go-to-guide throughout the research process, with quick navigation to services and resources, a task-oriented navigation experience, and a summary of resources across campus, including quick-find directories.

Our other site is built to share our research content as it relates to our key capabilities and our brand, highlighting who we are, what we do, and how we do it.

The new websites are now live. Subsequent phases of design and production will follow to update remaining centers and institutes as well as the institutional research cores.
