October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month

Each year, UT Health San Antonio joins a national effort among universities, businesses, government agencies, associations, nonprofit organizations and individuals to promote online safety awareness.

UT Health San Antonio’s Information Security team will be hosting on-campus events in October for National Cyber Security Awareness month. Weekly events will focus on aspects of cybersecurity and the many ways it impacts our daily lives. Visit https://infosec.uthscsa.edu/ncsam for more details on scheduled events throughout the campus.

The most popular cyber security event on campus is Free Shred Day hosted by Information Security to combat identity theft. The annual event is for faculty, staff and students to shred confidential work or personal records as well as hard drives.

Free Shred Day is Friday, Oct. 19, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Long campus main entrance near the flag poles. There will be 10 gray Shred-it bins available from Oct. 12 through Oct. 19 throughout the Long main campus hallways for employees and students to securely discard documents for shredding.
