Office of Institutional Research announces leadership transition

Aligned with the launch of the institution’s next five-year strategic plan for FY 2023-2027, the Office of Institutional Research (OIR) will transition under the leadership of Patrick Kaminski, vice president and chief strategy officer effective September 1, 2022.  The change will enhance the institution’s synergy further centralizing purpose-driven data. Explore the various resources offered by OIR.

Resources available from the Office of Institutional Research

OIR provides analytic and institutional data to the UT Health San Antonio community. OIR supports data-driven decision-making with accurate and timely reporting of official academic data to internal and external audiences. The office works to advance the university mission by: (1) Serving as the principal source for academic data and information, which support institutional planning, policy formation, communication, and decision-making, and (2) Supporting all academic programs in each of the five schools with accreditation reporting, professional organizational surveys, program reviews, grant writing, and ad-hoc reports.

Dashboards

Open Access Dashboards: Unless otherwise noted, the data provided in the external dashboards reflects historical and official data that is reported to the State of Texas and The University of Texas System. These data sets are institutional, representative of snapshots at a certain point in time (e.g., annually, term-based, etc.), and do not reflect live or daily information. Users can review statistical metrics on the following topics:

  • Student enrollment
  • Degrees awarded
  • Programs
  • Post-Graduate Education
  • Employees
  • Clinical, Financial, and Research

Internal Dashboards (Elevated Access Required): In accordance with FERPA protections, access to the following dashboards is granted on a need-to-know basis.  If you are currently not authorized for access, you will encounter an error message.

  • Student Registration Reports
  • Annual Student Diversity Report
  • Tuition, Fee, and Formula Funding

Custom Reports: If the available resources do not meet your data needs, please submit a Data Request for a custom report. External users should be referred to the public-facing website for data requests.

External Reporting Review

In compliance with HOP 2.2.4, as a best practice, OIR should be consulted on reports/surveys that contain official academic institutional information distributed to external organizations and agencies prior to their release to ensure the information is correct and consistently reported to various parties. Please submit a Data Request for report reviews.

Additional Resources

The following resources are available in OIR’s internal SharePoint page.

Faculty Data Dictionary: This data dictionary and the terms contained within are intended to provide a general knowledge of faculty data terminology. This list is not comprehensive, nor is it intended to be authoritative. This data dictionary is aimed to provide general information to the reader concerning commonly used words that individuals will use, hear, or read about while working with faculty data.

Report Inventory: This report inventory and the details contained within are intended to provide a general knowledge to the UT Health San Antonio community of the reports being produced and is not comprehensive. This could prevent duplicative efforts in reporting by leveraging previously vetted and reported statistics. If you have a report that you feel would be beneficial to include in the inventory, please contact the Office of Institutional Research.

External Data Centers: Links to external data centers associated with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), and UT System are available.
