The Department of Occupational Therapy’s Sigma Chapter of Pi Theta Epsilon welcomed 13 new members to its ranks during an induction ceremony April 3.
Established in 1958, Pi Theta Epsilon (PTE) is the nationally recognized honor society of occupational therapy and serves to recognize and encourage scholarship and academic excellence in occupational therapy students. The Sigma Chapter was established at UT Health San Antonio in 1992.
This year’s inductees included: Amy Chang, Laura R. Guilbeau, Amber L. Holt, Zachery Cruz Monita, Sandy Montelongo, Ailene G. Overton, Carly Nicole Peters, Rebecca Pulliam, Sarah Purcell, Savannah Lynn Sublousky, Ashley M. Tarver, Jackie Lynette Tijerina, and Jacquelyn M. Wood. The ceremony at the Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute, was conducted by the Department of Occupational Therapy faculty.
Family and friends of the inductees also attended the event. David Shelledy, Ph.D., dean of the School of Health Profession, was present and concluded the induction ceremony with brief remarks of congratulations and a call on new members to reflect the values of the honor society by always striving for excellence and leadership in their occupational therapy career.
