Pedestrians walking between the MARC and Katz Garage to be rerouted starting Dec. 2

Due to construction on the new Center for Brain Health Building — located at 4940 Charles Katz Drive — pedestrian traffic between the Katz Garage (Garage G) and the Medical Arts and Research Center (MARC) will be rerouted starting Monday, Dec. 2.

The temporary pedestrian walkway will now extend from the MARC garage elevators, through the garage to the edge of construction fence and exit around the construction site to Charles Katz Drive. Wayfinding signage to mark the new, temporary walkway will be prominently displayed for employees walking between the Katz Garage and the MARC.

The current walkway will be removed starting Dec. 2 to install a permanent pathway for pedestrians as well as a crosswalk between the Katz Garage, the MARC and the new Center for Brain Health Building. The new, permanent walkway and crosswalk are slated to be completed on March 3, 2025.

New Center for Brain Health

Construction on the $100 million Center for Brain Health, a new patient care and clinical trials facility of UT Health San Antonio, is now about 80% complete, with full completion expected by September 2025 and an anticipated opening in December 2025.

The Center for Brain Health — located at 4940 Charles Katz Drive — is among $1 billion in capital investments undertaken by UT Health San Antonio over the next four years, including the UT Health San Antonio Multispecialty and Research Hospital opening this December.
