Starting 6 p.m. on Friday, June 28, Facilities Management will be conducting a 12-hour power outage impacting all buildings located on the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long Campus at 7703 Floyd Curl Drive.
During the power outage, normal CPS Energy power will not be available to any Long Campus buildings. These include:
- The Medical School Building.
- The Dental School Building.
- The Basic Science Building (located behind the Dental and Medical school buildings).
- The Academic Learning and Teaching Center (ALTC).
- The Holly Auditorium.
- The School of Nursing.
- The Dolph Briscoe Jr. Library.
- The Academic and Administration Building (AAB).
- Facilities Management.
- The print shop.
- The university warehouse.
- Environmental Health and Safety, formerly the UT Health San Antonio Police Department Building.
Outage details
- All power will be restored no later than Saturday, June 29, at 6 a.m. The outage may end sooner than this time frame.
- The loss of normal building power will not be continuous throughout the outage, but there may be multiple short durations of power loss during the planned outage time frame.
- Individuals who are in a space that will be impacted by the power outage are asked to please power down their computers and equipment on a universal power supply (UPS) or battery.
- During the transfer to generator power, there will be a 10-second delay for generator engines to start, so equipment such as a desktop computer, not on a UPS, will need to be restarted the following workday.
- Individuals requiring extension cords for emergency-powered freezers or any other critical equipment, can contact Jeffrey Patterson, MBA, construction manager, Facilities Management, at pattersonj5@uthscsa.edu or 210-273-8750.
- Parking lot lighting will not be impacted by the power outage.
- Individuals in a space impacted by the power outage who will be using their computer in remote desktop mode, will need to turn their computer on and log in after the power outage.
- UT Health San Antonio virtual private network (VPN) functionality will not be impacted, so placing work files on a server is a good alternate to using one’s remote desktop.
- Facilities Management staff will be on-site throughout the power outage and the Facilities Management Building will be staffed for any in-person or call-in requests.
- During the power outage, Facilities Management staff will be performing routine reviews of the impacted spaces.
- The Facilities Management 24-hour/365-day telephone number is 210-567-2880.
Only Long Campus buildings will be impacted by this planned power outage. Gold’s Gym will not be impacted.
