Power systems test at the Greehey Campus on May 2

UT Health Facilities Management, in collaboration with CPS Energy, has worked to establish a power systems test at the Greehey Campus that will test the normal and emergency power systems.

The joint power tests will validate recent upgrades and repairs to CPSE 35kV infrastructure and to a UT Health San Antonio generator system. Only the McDermott, RAB, STRF and CCRI buildings will be impacted by this test.

The impact will be brief. Normal power will be temporarily unavailable at these buildings lasting at most two hours per building.

All emergency power systems including security systems, life safety, lighting, emergency power outlets and networking will be available throughout the duration of this test.

Power systems test date and time: Saturday, May 2, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Buildings impacted: McDermott, RAB, STRF and CCRI (ONLY)

Please power down any computers and all nonessential equipment by the end of business day Friday, May 1.

Over the past week, Facilities Management has worked with key stakeholders at each of the four buildings in order to minimize disruption to university research and operations.

Arrangements have been made with several departments to assist in computer restarts in order to reestablish remote desktop connections prior to Monday, May 4.

Additionally, facilities will be on-site throughout the duration of the power systems test should you require any support.
