From President Henrich: Remembering the victims of Sutherland Springs

Dear UT Health Community:

The horrible act of violence committed on Sunday, November 5 at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs has shaken that community as well as San Antonio and the nation to the core. We are again left with anguished questions and overwhelming sadness. Our hearts go out to the victims and their families and loved ones affected by this unspeakable tragedy. For us, as an academic health institution dedicated to healing, such heinous acts are especially barbaric and incomprehensible.

Several of our faculty-physicians responded to the call to treat victims at University Hospital, our teaching partner. We responded, as we do in so many ways each and every day, with both medical expertise and compassion.

As we mourn today and recognize the long sorrowful path forward, let us pray for strength, healing and guidance.

William L. Henrich, M.D., MACP

President and Professor of Medicine
