Employee Excellence Award
Robert Merrill, manager, video production/photography, Creative Media Services, Marketing, Communications & Media
Remarks by Dr. Henrich at the March 22 awards dinner:
“On many days, you’ll find Bob Merrill teetering from a tall ladder, adjusting lights high above the floor in the video production studios of the Creative Media Services Department. That was about to change this past year, as Bob was preparing to retire from his role as video producer after 25 years of service at the Health Science Center. But shifts in staff and reporting structures began to occur. Bob was needed more than ever, and he was asked to reconsider his retirement. Despite the uncertainties of a new position, Bob confidently accepted his new role which requires longer hours and more paperwork. Today, as manager of video production, he has improved job and bill tracking by 30 percent, and ensures the audio and video production of the stories he produces for the university run smoothly for our audiences to see and enjoy. And now, we’re pulling Bob from behind the camera and into the spotlight to be honored for the pride he takes in his work and for his unwavering dedication to the Health Science Center.”
From the nominating letter by Nancy Place, M.S., Creative Media Services,
Marketing, Communications and Media:
“Bob provides the highest-quality video and delivers it in a timely fashion to meet the demanding deadlines of communicating and marketing the university’s vital brand and mission. His work can be seen throughout the university’s campuses on everything from Web pages to ads, to magazines, to newsletters and social media channels. He has saved the university thousands of dollars and produces high caliber creative products for these particular projects.”
