Remarks by Dr. Henrich at the March 22 awards dinner:

“For the past 20 years, Dr. Lizette Gomez has served an important role in training the next generation of pediatricians to be knowledgeable, evidence-seeking and compassionate. The population she serves is daunting to many other health care providers, who send patients to her due to complicated medical and socioeconomic issues. She champions patient-centered medical homes and teaching mother-baby dyad health from the first few days of life. The care she gives her patients is compassionate and understanding. Dr. Gomez not only realizes the importance of her patients’ health, but she addresses the entire family and seeks resources to improve their lives as well.”

From the nominating letter by Sharmin Bootwala, patient:

“When I was little, I was excited to go to the doctor because I liked seeing Dr. Gomez, who always had a smile for me. Every time I saw her, she treated me and my sister with the best care, and we consider her family. Dr. Gomez has inspired me to become a pediatrician, and it is because of her that I am interested in medicine. I am so lucky to have had Dr. Gomez as my pediatrician! I know that she will be there for her patients and will continue to inspire other people like me.”
