Recovered from COVID-19? Help current patients by donating convalescent plasma

The fight against the coronavirus has led to a crucial need for convalescent plasma. Convalescent plasma is plasma from someone who has been infected with the virus but recovered.

The South Texas Blood & Tissue Center is collecting plasma from recovered COVID-19 patients, per U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requirements, to be used as a treatment for patients who are currently sick with the virus.

If you tested positive for COVID-19 and have recovered, you may be eligible to donate convalescent plasma.

To be eligible to donate you must:

·       Be completely symptom-free for 14 days.

·      Provide a positive COVID-19 test result and complete a screening form.

·       Meet regular blood donation guidelines.

If you’re interested in donating, contact the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center at 210-731-2719 or COVID19@southtexasblood.org.
