Russel J. Reiter, PhD, professor in the Department of Cell Systems and Anatomy, who recently celebrated 50 years of service to The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UT Health San Antonio), received an honorary Doctor of Medicine degree from the National University of Cuyo in Mendoza, Argentina. This is the fifth honorary doctoral degree awarded to Dr. Reiter in his prestigious career as a professor and researcher.

“Receiving this honorary doctoral degree is documentation of the appreciation of the research that many of my colleagues and I have been doing for several decades,” Dr. Reiter shared. “Over the years the name of the institution has changed, but the dedication of UT Health San Antonio and the Long School of Medicine has continued unabated. This award is a testament to the first-class reputation our institution holds at an international level.”
