San Antonio Express-News: East Side getting new transitional home over some neighbors’ objections, San Antonio City Council decides

This article is about San Antonio City Council’s approval of a zoning change to allow Casa Mia’s transitional campus to be built on the East Side.

Casa Mia is a home for pregnant and parenting mothers with opioid use disorder. The program is a project led by Lisa Cleveland, PhD, RN, APRN, FAAN, from our School of Nursing, and Crosspoint Inc., which provides transitional homes. Casa Mia is one of only three homes in the U.S. that allow mothers to recover with their babies, who often are born recovering from having been exposed to opioids in the womb.
