State Employee Charitable Campaign begins Sept. 3

UT Health San Antonio’s State Employee Charitable Campaign, your chance to make lives better, will run from Sept. 3 through Oct. 4. The SECC, the state’s version of the United Way, supports more than 500 charities.

The UT Health San Antonio goal for 2019 is $360,000.

“UT Health has a strong tradition of giving back to our community. One of our missions is to serve and engage in our community, and thus we take great pride in knowing that UT Health is a strong supporter of the State Employee Charitable Campaign,” said President William L. Henrich, M.D., MACP, and Mary Henrich, the SECC co-chairs.

The SECC allows employees to provide financial support to hundreds of charities of our choice that assist and empower those who are struggling during a difficult time in their life. Other agencies support animal causes, the arts, global assistance and more.

The annual SECC Food Truck Kick-off event will be held Sept. 6 on the Long and Greehey campuses.

“Again this year,” said President Henrich, “UTSA has issued an SECC challenge to UT Health San Antonio. Fortunately, we won the challenge last year (and UTSA President Taylor Eighmy had to be photographed wearing a UT Health T-shirt!). I’m asking for your help to win our UTSA challenge again this year.  Although the UT Health San Antonio SECC 2019 Campaign starts on Sept. 3 and concludes on Oct. 4, I encourage you to log your donation on Thursday, Sept. 19, so it can be counted towards this challenge being conducted only on that day.”
